Director, Recovery Services

The Director of Recovery Services will oversee the daily operations of the surgical and tissue services teams. The incumbent will maintain the daily operations and responsible for the operation room and sterile processing areas. They will collaborate with other departments to ensure an efficient donor process. The incumbent will also collaborate with finance and quality departments to ensure effective monetary and quality controls over the donor recovery center. They must have a strong background in the operation room, sterile processing, biomed, and supply chain management in order to maintain high level standards by regulatory agencies. They will have on-call and 24/7 accountability related to teams and the donor recovery center.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
The Director of Recovery Services
· Directly manages the operating room and sterile processing areas to ensure an effective and efficient donor process.
· Ensures compliance with quality control measures for supplies and equipment used for tissue and organ recovery as dictated by internal policies, federal, state and local regulations.
· Maintains relationships with stakeholders and external vendors. Ensures appropriate volumes and quality control measures are adhered to.
· Monitors supply costs, inventory controls, and effectively monitors supply usage. This requires maintaining of the inventory management system.
· Maintains appropriate staffing levels to meet the needs of donor volume.
· Takes administrative call for organ and tissue services.
· Closely aligns with other leaders to maximize donation. Must work effectively with the leadership of organ and tissue allocation departments to ensure a seamless donor process.
Represents STA’s senior leadership in a positive and effective manner. Accountable for the engagement of the leadership and front-line teams.
· Assists in operating room and sterile processing, as needed.
· Oversees the daily compliance checks of the donor recovery center. This includes, but not limited to, temperature logs, medication management, cleaning, autoclave logs, environmental controls, OSHA requirement, fire marshal requirements, public code, etc.
· Other duties assigned.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required in healthcare or sciences related field.
Minimum of five years of managerial experience required.
Experience in organ and tissue donation required.
Understanding of UNOS and AATB regulations is required.
Operating room, sterile processing, biomed, and supply chain management experience required.
Operating room and sterile processing compliance regulatory expertise is required.
