Southwest Transplant Alliance Foundation
Family Support Program
Recipients need time to recover and adjust to a new way of life post-transplant. Through the STA Foundation Family Support Program, recipients are gifted financial relief from medical expenses, lost wages, and more
Stories of Hope
Cameryn Plemons | Tissue Recipient
Cameryn Plemons received the healing gift of donated tissue. An avid runner, within six months after her transplant Cameryn was back to her favorite hobby and completed a half marathon. In another six months after that, Cameryn had completed a full marathon.
“I always thought donation was only impactful when it's an organ. But for me, it was about quality of life. The smallest things can impact people in the greatest of ways. My life is significantly improved because of it.”
Jael Zuniga | Liver Recipient
Two year old little boy, Jael, had a history of biliary atresia and received a lifesaving liver transplant. Jael’s father was unable to work during his son’s transplant recovery, never leaving his bedside. This temporary pause in work resulted in minimal income for their family and bills piling up. The STA Foundation was able to pay their rent, allowing them to focus on Jael’s healing and new life as a healthy little boy.
