Donor Family Support Liaison

The Donor Family Support Liaison serves as the primary contact for donor families after donation has occurred. This position offers meaningful materials, resources, and opportunities to ensure donor families continue to feel cared for and supported. The liaison is responsible for several important communications, including outcome letters, surveys, and correspondence exchanged between donor families and recipients. With guidance from department leadership, this role leads the planning and coordination of special projects and events to honor heroic donors and their families. This position offers donor families and recipients the opportunity to continue engaging with STA and the STA Foundation.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responds to donor family calls and emails

· Guides and supports families by connecting them with appropriate resources and information

· Facilitates and encourages correspondence between donor families and transplant recipients

·Coordinates special projects and events for donor families, including but not limited to: educational sessions, donor and recipient family meets, wall of hero ceremonies, donor memorial opportunities, and more

· Collects and shares donor family feedback obtained through surveys

·Prepares and distributes outcome letters, informational materials, and other touchpoints within designated timeframes

· Updates donor family contact information as needed and documents interactions

· Obtains and shares recipient status updates from transplant centers and tissue processors upon request and within established guidelines

·Promotes opportunities for donor families and recipients to continue engaging with STA, including information about volunteering and sharing their story

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

·Bachelor’s degree is preferred in Counseling, Ministry, Social Work or Psychology or equivalent experience working with families in crisis

·Bereavement Facilitator certification preferred within one year of employment; however, relevant experience will be considered

· Current Driver’s license required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

· Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills

· Proficient in MS office, Word, Excel, Power Point

· Direct experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred

· Excellent communication skills required.  Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required

· Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload

· Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities.  Current Driver’s license required.
