Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for handling Finance mail, scanning & routing invoices, and completing payments for processing by verifying and reconciling invoices according to policy and procedures.  The Staff Accountant will record daily cash activity, process medical payments, serve as a back-up for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.  The Staff Accountant will be responsible for journal various month end journal entries and reconciliations. This job function includes answering phone calls, as well as coordinating written correspondence as needed.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

·        Processes accounts payable in compliance with policies and procedures.  This includes hospital bills, surgeon fees, anesthesiologist, air charter, ground transportation, lab services, insurance, physician bills, etc.

·        Recording daily cash transactions on the cash report

·        Maintains the air charter transportation activity log

·        Responsible for payments for medical bills and accruals

·        Assign general ledger coding for payments

·        Prepares prepaid insurance entry, surgeon fee entry, and other month end entries as needed

·    Performs month end reconciliations

·        Back-up bank reconciliation

·        Creates and maintains work instructions

·        Performs other duties as assigned

·        OSHA CATEGORY DEFINITION: Category 3 - The incumbent in this position has no potential for occupational exposure

·        The incumbent will have access to confidential material and is required to use discretion with this information and comply with STA Confidentiality policy

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, or equivalent work experience

·        Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Kronos preferred

·        Current Driver’s license required

Qualifications and Skills:

·        Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

·        Ability to develop proficiency in industry-specific software programs

·        Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Kronos preferred

·        Excellent customer service skills are essential.

·        Strong organizational, analytical, time management skills required to manage multiple priorities

·        Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly

·        Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required

·        Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload

·        Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment

·        Must be reliable in meeting departmental expectations

·        Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities
