In-House Coordinator

OVERVIEW

The In-House Coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective donation environment within the assigned hospital to maximize organ and tissue donation. The In-House Coordinator is required to be onsite to manage hospital relationships, respond to donor referrals, interact with donor families, and start the donation process in concert with the healthcare team. They will be responsible for overseeing donation and clinical initiatives within the assigned hospital. They must have the ability to work on-call and flexible hours to meet the needs of the organization.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associates degree in Nursing or biological science or related experience required.  Bachelor's degree preferred.  Licensed as a registered nurse, respiratory therapist, paramedic, or applicable experience and related training preferred. 

  2. A minimum of two years’ experience working within a fast-paced critical care environment required.

  3. Two years’ experience working in an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) is preferred.

  4. Fluency in the ability to speak, read and write Spanish preferred.

  5. Excellent communication skills required. Must have experience with communicating effectively with physicians, healthcare teams, families, and organ procurement staff.

  6. Experience with supporting families through grief and death and dying required.

  7. Ability to meet the requirements of a variable and demanding call schedule required.

  8. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.

  9. Ability to cope with high levels of stress, able to handle a heavy workload and work in a 24/7 environment.

  10. Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities.  Current Driver’s license required.
