Marketing Communications Associate
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Marketing Communications Associate is a generalist role supporting internal and external communications initiatives. Under the strategic direction of the Director of Marketing Communications, the associate is responsible for proactive and reactive media relations efforts and educational programs throughout STA’s service area to promote the lifesaving mission of donation. The associate will curate content and stories for use in social media and traditional media to help educate the community on the importance of organ and tissue donation. Working as a liaison to the news media, the associate will pitch reporters and build relationships to help further drive a culture of donation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Supports overall media relations strategy.
2. Works in conjunction with internal and external resources to curate story content to share across media channels.
3. Proactively pitches media contacts surrounding key messages.
4. Responds to media inquiries, supports the development of key messages and content, facilitates interviews with reporters.
5. Responsible to establishing and developing positive relationships in the community and throughout our DSA to support STA’s mission.
6. Collaborates with team members to support all marketing communications outreach programs throughout our DSA.
7. Represents STA and Donate Life Texas at industry and community events.
8. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, event planning, community relations, volunteer management, or related field required.
Three years of communications experience in media relations, marketing, public relations, or similar field required. Prior experience in the healthcare and nonprofit industry preferred.
Graphic design experience required to develop fliers, web content and social media graphics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva required.
Experience with database management systems preferred.
Must be a strong writer with experience in content creation.
Excellent oral and written skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly.
Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate excellent time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple requests and meet assigned deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to manage a heavy workload.
Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto to meet all job duties and responsibilities. Current Driver’s License required.
