Director, Marketing Communications

OVERVIEW

The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for the organization’s marketing, branding, media relations, digital communications and community engagement initiatives and the leadership of the day to day operations within the department. Providing direction and support across the organization, the director will be responsible for leading a consistent voice and look for STA throughout the entire organization. The director reports to the Chief Development and Communications Officer and stays in close alignment regarding vision and strategic direction for the function.

 The director will lead all internal and external communications functions and collaborate across the organization and with external partners to drive consistent and impactful programs. The director collaborates closely to share the stories of STA’s lifesaving mission including initiatives to spotlight donor families, donor heroes, transplant recipients, employees and STA’s culture.

 In this role, initiatives are developed that help shape the perception of organ and tissue donation and drive the community to the donor registry.

 The director is responsible for the direction, management and execution of:

  •  Internal communications efforts including newsletter and intranet content as well as efforts that spotlight employees and promote STA externally to bolster recruitment efforts.       

  • External communications efforts including media relations, social media platforms, website content, proactive and reactive efforts, national observances and the like.

  • Interdepartmental support including all printed materials, presentations, posters and branded materials.

  • Community engagement and education, including volunteer management and collaboration across multiple departments to educate and inspire the community to embrace STA’s lifesaving mission.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field of study. Advanced degree in a related field of study and nonprofit experience is a plus.

  2. Organ procurement organization experience preferred.

  3. 10 years of professional experience in marketing communications.

  4. Demonstrated experience in developing effective programs aligned with organizational goals and business outcomes.

  5. Exceptional collaboration skills with an ability to partner effectively with others in a complex organization in the pursuit of common goals.

  6. Ability to measure and adapt to trends and implement new communication platforms.

  7. Excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly.

  8. Strong leadership skills, experience leading teams and the ability to work independently and part of a team are required.

  9. Must be creative and have a strong artistic vision.

  10. Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload.

  11. Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities. Current Driver’s license required.
