Supervisor, Clinical Practice Specialist
The Supervisor, Clinical Practice Specialists will be Responsible for the day-to-day activities related to the operation of the STA legacy center and recovering organs for transplant, including but not limited to donor referrals, donor evaluation, authorization process, and comprehensive donor management. Activities include, but are not limited to, being knowledgeable of individual hospital and policies related to the donation of all anatomical gifts; able to identify key personnel who can improve and maintain a hospital's level of participation in facilitating potential organ and tissue donors; and performing activities related to the initial and surgical recovery elements of the donation process. Advancing level responsibilities include facilitating donor management strategies on behalf of Southwest Transplant Alliance, advanced donor management strategies and invasive procedures. The position will also facilitate the general activities required throughout the donor recovery period under the direction of the medical director, clinical management team, and the lead recovery surgeon present in the operating room.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Supervises assigned team members, including:
Conduct employee appraisal, performance improvement plans, and corrective action plans under the direction of the Director of Surgical and Perfusion Services
Approve employee expense reports, off call pay, and PTO requests in accordance with STA guidelines and policy.
Rotates Case Specialist duties with the Clinical Practice Specialists and clinical leadership.
Maintains skills at all levels of ORC. This is accomplished, in part, by performing onsite donor management during as directed, according to donor activity and performing procedures (line placement, liver biopsy, bronchoscopy, etc.) on donors as needed.
Maintains regular office hours in addition to call responsibilities.
Actively Legacy Center workflow and case activity, providing input for optimal strategies.
Regularly performs walk though inspections of the Donor Care Unit, ensuring compliance with protocols, and adequate supplies to meet current case demand.
Partner with the Materials Management Team in order to ensure adequate supplies are present to meet donor volume requirements.
Participates in team huddles.
Responsible for critical communications related to donor activity and Legacy Center processes as needed.
Reviews information documented in case charts to verify accuracy and completeness of documentation.
Ensures proper documentation of training.
Ensures adequate staffing.
Assist HR and Education Departments in recruiting, interviewing and training clinical staff.
Assists in development of continuing education and training materials, programs and curriculum related to clinical functions.
Oversees coordination and execution of research initiatives and Quality Improvement initiatives (PDSA) approved by STA leadership under the direction of the Director of Surgical and Perfusion Services.
Completes STA Leadership Development Training.
Works with AOC, COO, and CEO for complex issues, especially those with potential for significant financial, regulatory, or legal impact to the organization.
Edcation, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Associate degree in nursing or biological science or related experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, or applicable experience and related training preferred.
Minimum three years as an Organ Recovery Coordinator (ORC) II or higher, or equivalent experience.
Certification as a Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator through the American Board for Transplant Certification preferred.
Prior experience as a preceptor in a clinical setting.
Prior leadership experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Expert knowledge of OPO standards & OPTN policy related to OPO responsibilities and organ allocation.
Excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly. Must have the ability to provide clear written and oral instruction related to complex processes, communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, and to represent the organization publicly.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
Detail oriented, with ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload.
Must be able to simultaneously execute upon multiple complex processes, provide accurate documentation, and prioritize tasks to optimize workflow to ensure compliance with established policies and timelines.

Qualifications and Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to develop proficiency in industry-specific software programs
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Kronos preferred
Excellent customer service skills are essential.
Strong organizational, analytical, time management skills required to manage multiple priorities
