Marketing Communications Associate

The Marketing Communications Associate is a generalist role supporting internal and external communications initiatives.

Under the strategic direction of the Director of Marketing Communications, the Marketing and Communications Associate is responsible for crafting clear and compelling written and visual content for a range of purposes which educates, motivates, and empowers audiences to engage with STA’s lifesaving mission of donation. This position builds connectedness, inspires others, and promotes our culture of joy in a meaningful way.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Supports the overall marketing and communications strategy, with a special focus on delivering high quality experiences and a desire to support our frontline teams, donation partners, and communities we serve
Develops creative and clear written content and design elements for projects including, but not limited to public website, social media, employee intranet, campus monitors, internal and external newsletters, and other projects as needed
Responds to and fulfills requests from media, community members, donation partners, and STA staff in an appropriate, timely, and professional manner
Assists with drafting press releases and communication plans
Proofs and edits materials for basic grammatical content
Coordinates production of compelling print and digital materials, including but not limited to social media graphics, flyers, invitations, and videos in collaboration with appropriate partners
Communicates clearly in the written and verbal form with a variety of audiences
Supports the overall media relations strategy by working with internal and external resources to curate story content, build relationships with media partners, develop key messages, identify most appropriate spokesperson upon request, and facilitate interviews as needed
Curates inspiring stories for use on social media and other outlets, including STA staff, donation partners, donor families, and transplant recipients willing to share their connection to the mission
Maintains STA Swag and Print Shops, including monitoring inventory levels, stocking new items, and assisting staff with usage
Tracks projects and oversees production schedules to ensure deadlines are met
Builds and nurtures professional relationships both within and outside of STA
Represents STA and Donate Life Texas at industry and community events
Performs other duties as assigned
Compliance:
OSHA CATEGORY DEFINITION: Category 3 - The incumbent in this position has no potential for occupational exposure
The incumbent will have access to confidential material and is required to use discretion with this information and comply with STA Confidentiality policy
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred in marketing, public relations, event planning, community relations, volunteer management, or related field
Three years of communications experience in media relations, marketing, public relations, or similar field required
Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
Direct experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred
Current Driver’s license required
Qualifications and Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva required
Must be a strong writer with experience in content creation
Graphic design experience required to develop fliers, web content and social media graphics
Experience with database management systems preferred
Excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly
Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate excellent time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple requests and meet assigned deadlines
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required
Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload
Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT / WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment, travel in light and commercial aircraft, or automobile in order to meet all the
duties and responsibilities of the position.
