Transportation Manager
Summary:

The Manager of Logistics would be responsible for creating and ensuring that multiple transportation methods are efficient and effective throughout the organization. This role will organize and manage the transportation of organ and tissue donors, recovery teams, staff, organs, and blood/tissue samples to their appropriate destinations. This requires in-depth knowledge of systems and industry standards related to ground and air transportation. They coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to create the most efficient workflow possible to maximize donation and safeguard the gift.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Planning and managing multiple methods of transportation, both ground and air
Directing, optimizing, and coordinating full transplant cycle
Identifying, creating, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines as needed that adhere to all relevant regulations and ensure safe transportation
Liaison between STA and its suppliers, hospitals, and funeral homes
Keep track of transport costs and efficiency
Partner with the Clinical and Recovery Services leaders to ensure efficient processes for staff
Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets
Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
Perform modeling and simulation of financial and operational processes for decision-making
Comply with STA’S policies and procedures, laws, regulations, and requirements
Resolve any arising problems or complaints
Performs other duties as assigned
Compliance:
OSHA CATEGORY DEFINITION: Category 1 – The incumbent in this position has potential for occupational exposure.
The incumbent will have access to confidential material and is required to use discretion with this information and comply with STA Confidentiality policy
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or relevant field. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role. In-depth knowledge of the transportation industry.
Solid understanding of logistics and asset tracking and management software
Experience with courier services and last-mile delivery
Experience in the utilization of asset management systems effectively to facilitate the achievement of performance objectives, as well as reporting lost and missing assets
Knowledge and/or experience with implementation and oversight of critical care transport modalities
Knowledge of 14 CFR 135 certificate preferred
Current Driver’s license required
