Community Outreach Associate

Summary:

Success factors for this role is to focus on educating the community to drive action and to inspire others by executing outreach efforts throughout STA’s service area to drive the registry and educate and engage target audiences.

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with community and multicultural groups, faith-based organizations, and youth programs to educate about STA’s lifesaving mission and drive the registry.

  • Assists Community Engagement and Foundation Relations team in building community partnerships and executing events that spread awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation. 

  • Stays informed of latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field to ensure outreach efforts are impactful and align with STA’s goals and strategic plan.  

  • Supports the Community Engagement and Foundation Relations team with event logistics and execution of all major events. 

  • Contributes to the growth and management of the STA volunteer program.

  • Assists with content creation on print and digital materials, including but not limited to PowerPoint presentations, social media, educational brochures and videos in collaboration with appropriate partners.

  • Reports on and fulfills external requests from community members, donation partners, and STA staff in an appropriate, timely, and professional manner.

  • Communicates clearly in the written and verbal form with a variety of audiences.  

  • Builds and nurtures professional relationships both within and outside of STA.

  • Represents STA and Donate Life Texas at industry and community events

  • Supports the overall community engagement strategy by working with internal and external resources to curate relationships with groups and individuals and spread the mission of donation throughout STA’s service area.

  •  Performs other duties as assigned.

Compliance:

  • OSHA CATEGORY DEFINITION: Category III - The incumbent in this position has no potential of occupational exposure.

  • The incumbent will have access to confidential material and is required to use discretion with this information and comply with STA Confidentiality policy.

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred in community outreach, education, public relations, volunteer management, or related field  

  • Three years of experience in community outreach or education field required 

  • Direct experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred

  • Current Driver’s license required

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint required. Experience with Canva, and a CRM database preferred.

  • Must be a strong presenter and communicator.

  • Experience with database management systems preferred 

  • Excellent communication skills required.  Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly

  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate excellent time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple requests and meet assigned deadlines 

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required

  • Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload

  • Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto 30% of the time in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities.
