Director, Hospital Development
OVERVIEW
The Director of Hospital Services is responsible for successfully developing and implementing plans to fulfill the goals and objectives of the department in collaboration with and as approved by the Vice President, Business Partner Development. The Director of Hospital Services is responsible for providing effective leadership, planning, supervision and performance of the department’s staff and their activities in support of organizational goals. The Director will provide necessary support, service, and data to the department and organization leadership and staff to achieve objectives. Collaborates with Operational leadership to foster, promote and sustain cross-departmental collaboration in support of optimal department and organization outcomes.
The director is responsible for fostering an environment that promotes and sustains the highest level of team and individual engagement and works to promote strengths-based leadership and tools to achieve the objectives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or communication is required. Five (5) years applicable work experience or the pursuit and completion of a Bachelor’s degree within two (2) years will be considered.
2. In depth knowledge of the OPO industry and regulatory standards, Texas hospitals and hospital systems or equivalent.
3. RN and/or health administrator experience preferred
4. Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering quality training and educational materials and programs.
5. Excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly.
6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
7. Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload.
8. Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities. Current Driver’s License required.
9. Proficient in MS office, Word, Excel, Power Point.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Collaborates with senior management to evaluate the organization's goals and strategic opportunities and threats.
2. Reviews DSA hospital needs related to the donation process and directs strategies to address those needs in collaboration with the Regional and Dallas leadership on:
a. Effectively utilizing all resources and staffing skill sets to maximize the gift of donation
b. Developing and implementing best practices to gain greater consistency and efficiencies within the donation processes.
3. Initiates and maintains external relationships with STA stakeholders.
4. Assess Hospital Services operations for improvement opportunities as they relate to the roles of all Hospital Services staff and implement strategies which address identified needs.
5. Coach, mentor, support, and motivate the department leadership and top talent in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Hospital Services in a manner that is consistent with STA’s Core Purpose, Business Definition and Core Values.
a. Shares best practices with the operations team to make donation processes, from donor referral to recovery, as effective as possible and to maintain the very highest quality standards.
b. Develop and implement action plans to promote and increase staff engagement.
c. Contribute toward the development and implementation of individual or group goals or metrics related to job performance standards and annual competencies.
d. Monitors performance results and opportunities for improvement and takes corrective actions as necessary. Conducts performance appraisals.
6. Directs the planning of hospital contact and engagement activities and reviews that department staff are providing the optimal level on-site service and conduct assessments on development activities with hospital services staff.
7. Establishes department budget and financial controls.
8. Responsible for department metrics and dashboard data.
a. Analyzes hospital data utilizing death record review, referral data, and potential donor statistics.
9. Collaborates with Human Resources department in the recruiting, hiring and onboarding process.
a. Evaluate employee performance to meet strategic goals.
10. Collaborates with the Quality department to ensure ongoing process improvement and regulatory compliance as well as collaboration on such initiatives as Quality Improvement, Lean Process, and PDSA development and execution.
11. Communicates with other OPO’s to identify and improve donation processes.
12. Participates in regional/national professional organizations as needed.
13. Provide 24/7 support for all Hospital Services operations-related activities as needed.
