STA CEO PATTI NILES NAMED DBJ 2020 WOMEN IN BUSINESS HONOREE

STA CEO PATTI NILES NAMED A DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL 2020 WOMEN IN BUSINESS HONOREE

DALLAS — Patti Niles, president and CEO of Southwest Transplant Alliance (STA), was honored by the Dallas Business Journal on August 19, 2020, as one of 30 Women in Business Awards honorees.

Niles was recognized for her leadership of one of the country’s largest organ procurement organizations, which serves a community of 10 million people across Texas. Under her leadership, STA will move into a state-of-the-art, 77,000-square-foot Donor Recovery Center in Dallas this fall. Her team also has pivoted to ensure continuity in organ and tissue transplantations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As a leader, I have always pushed my team to think about what’s next,” Niles told the Dallas Business Journal. “Whether we are forecasting a fork in the road, a change in a process or a relationship that could go awry, it’s critical that we anticipate these things.”

As a registered nurse, Niles brings a combination of clinical experience and leadership of organ procurement organizations to her role at STA. She has been instrumental in increasing the number of lives saved and improved through organ and tissue donation across the country. Niles serves as the president of Donate Life Texas and recently was honored with the President’s Award by the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) for her outstanding contributions to its members.

“What an honor to celebrate Patti as one of the Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Business,” said Cheryl Murray, partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and a member of the STA Board of Directors. “Patti has transformed STA into an award-winning organization. She and her team help save so many lives through organ donation.”

The Women in Business Awards program highlights decision makers across DFW who have shaped the business community. Leaders in their fields across a variety of industries — from banking to sports business – these women are honored for their achievements in the workplace and beyond. Honorees this year include key executives at global companies and C-suite players at some of the region's fastest-growing firms.   On August 19, the Dallas Business Journal honored its 2020 Women in Business Awards class with a live broadcast. The virtual event featured various interviews with all 30 honorees talking about challenges from nonprofits, economic development, diversity and inclusion, COVID-19, health care, sports business and other topics.
