Doug Butler

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Doug Butler is responsible for overseeing organ and tissue recovery services, along with surgical and lab operations at STA. With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, Doug provides proficient knowledge in creating sustainable solutions to barriers in the donation and transplantation industry.

Since starting his career on the frontlines of the industry as an organ recovery coordinator, Doug has dedicated more than 16 years of service to the organ procurement community. In that time, he has held numerous leadership positions within clinical, surgical, hospital development, family care services and others. With a passion for motivating teams and creating strong partnerships that save lives, Doug has aided in providing the best possible care for our donor families, patients, partners and STA team.

Doug earned his Bachelor of Health Services Administration and a Master of Business Administration in Health Management from Baker College in Flint, Michigan. He is also a registered nurse and a certified procurement transplant coordinator. Doug serves on many committees throughout the donation community. Before joining STA, Doug served as Director of Hospital and Family Services at Gift of Life Michigan.
