Abdominal Organ Recovery Surgeon (Dallas)

Position: Abdominal Organ Recovery Surgeon

Reports to: Medical Director Recovery Surgeon

Southwest Transplant Alliance, STA, an Organ Procurement Organization headquartered in Dallas Texas, is seeking a full-time Abdominal Organ Recovery Surgeon.  The Abdominal Organ Recovery Surgeon is primarily accountable for the surgical recovery process: surgical dissection, removal, and preparation of selected donor organs for transplantation in the operative setting consistent with the mission and vision of the organization.

Since our founding, we’ve recovered more than 35,000 organs and saved or enhanced the lives of more than 100,000 people. STA’s service area includes 10 hospital transplant centers, 270+ hospitals, 89 Texas counties, 1 Arkansas country, and 10.5 million residents.

Our new facility, in Dallas Texas, is designed to support our lifesaving mission, revolutionize organ donation and transplantation by providing the nation’s most advanced care and supporting donors and their families. The Legacy Center features organ and tissue recovery suites, Moss Heart Cardiac Unit, Hillcrest Simulation and Learning Lab, and the Hoblitzelle Organ Perfusion Lab.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  1. Current MD, DO, or experienced procurement professional

  2. Completion of an abdominal transplant fellowship or significant experience within the last two years in kidney, liver, and pancreas procurement.

  3. Able to provide 24/7 on-call coverage with twenty days on, ten days off.

  4. Ability to work both independently and a part of a team

  5. Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload

  6. Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft, or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities
