Chad Trahan is the Vice President of Innovation and Operational Excellence at Southwest Transplant Alliance, where he oversees the design and development of STA’s Center of Excellence and other continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the donor recovery process and, ultimately, save more lives.

Chad has worked in organ and tissue donation for nearly 20 years and most recently served as Vice President of Clinical Operations for LifeShare of Oklahoma. Before moving to Oklahoma in 2017, Chad held multiple front-line coordinator positions in both organ and tissue recovery at TransLife in Florida and at STA. He also spent three years working for RTI, a processor of donated tissue for transplantation, where he was responsible for providing surgical recovery training to OPOs and other recovery organizations in both the United States and Europe. He was previously the Director of Clinical Services for Southwest Transplant Alliance, where he played an integral role in producing five consecutive record-breaking years from 2013 to 2017.

Chad received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and is pursuing an MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas. He holds multiple certifications related to donation and transplantation. Chad has been an active member of the OPO and transplant community throughout his career through participation in various AOPO councils, national meetings, and being an active contributor at Region 4 meetings.
